Take a tour of Solin, the lovely town located on the Jadro river just outside of Split. Almost 2000 years ago, in one of the most beautiful bays of that time, on the east Adriatic coast along the river delta Jadro, is where Salona arose. Thanks to its’ perfect location and the historical circumstances at the turn of the era it became the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia with over 60,000 inhabitants. Inside of the walls there arose a forum, a political and religious headquarters and towards the end of the first century a theatre was built. At the end of the northwest there was an amphitheatre that was built in the second century, the favorite entertainment spot for the Roman Empire. On the opposite side of Salona is where the great city baths where, an essential part of the urban culture of the Roman city, episcopal center and the center of the Christian community.
